This is the
final
independent Norfolk Post issue, released on 7 June 2016, and
withdrawn and invalidated
on 30 June 2016, indicating a very short postal life for this fine souvenir sheet. The Norfolk Post Philatelic Bulletin stated that only 450 souvenir sheets were printed.
The
design
shows the iconic Ball Bay image with Norfolk pine trees, and the book that the new Pitcairn arrival, John Buffett, found in a deserted building when he arrived, which he subsequently used as his personal diary.
All Norfolk stamps were
invalidated
on 30 June 2016, when Norfolk Post was closed. These included all issues
from the decimal overprints of 14 Feb 1966 until, and including, this Pitcairn Islanders 160th Anniversary of Arrival souvenir sheet, and all of the fine definitive and commemorative sets issued by Norfolk Post over the years.
Norfolk's government and postal affairs were taken over by the Government of New South Wales, and three years later, by the Government of Queensland.  The first 'new' Norfolk Island stamps printed was a set of two stamps and a souvenir sheet containing a Red-tailed Tropic Bird, and a Masked Booby bird, issued on 20 September 2016. These, and subsequent issues, are inscribed "NORFOLK ISLAND AUSTRALIA".
Currently, no
new definitive stamps
inscribed "NORFOLK ISLAND AUSTRALIA" have been issued, and Australia Post has issued two sets and minisheets each year since 2017.
Since the new policies were effective,
Australia, Australian Antarctic Territory, Christmas Island, and Cocos (Keeling) Islands stamps are now valid for postage in Norfolk Island and throughout Australia.
Norfolk Post's final definitive series,
"Shorlines
