Rare GE BA-6B tube portable Remote preamplifier/field mixer octal tubes.
Out of all the Broadcast field mixers of the day these GEs definitely sound the best. Far superior (in my opinion) to the RCAs, Collins, Raytheon etc. I have owned them all over the years and although the RCA OP-6/BN-2a is the classic I assume that’s only because a lot more of them were produced. These units are quite rare to find in general and this is the early version of this preamplifier/mixer that has octal tubes and not 9 pins which I’ve only seen a couple of come up for sale ever . These sound even better than the later units and have a bigger bottom end and a bit more grit to them.
The unit has been tested and used on a couple acoustic tracks in the past year but has not been gone through and is all original so the buyer should plan on recapping it asap. That being said it’s passing audio fine and sounds great.
