his specimen showcased here was part of a vintage collection and was dormant since the Reagan administration.
It recently underwent a barrage of labor extensive but necessary attention from extended inactivity, including but not limited to: Added some nice metallic squarely knobs on toggle-switches that looked rather sexy, deoxit dials and buttons as well as replenished all pertinent electronic components to ensure static-free signal contact flow with some retouching involved in the refurbishing process to arrive rejuvenated close to its original integrity & glory.
Countless work hours in stretched of many days spent on this restoration project. Meticulous detailing inside & out, every crevice, every lines of every protruding knobs & controls was also involved.
I'm an audio engineer, an electronic hobbyist and a purveyor of all things uniquely analog. I have refurbished, repaired, modified & fixed quite a few vintage gears and some of the newer ones as well for my own personal hi-fi & pro collection. At times, I have literally spent up to 80-hours on end just for one project alone and I don't get paid by the hour either ;-)). The kind of work I do is true testament to the quality end result of each particular project I render...so buy with confidence even just for the time & effort executed on this awesome machine is surely investment worth its "wait" in gold!

One of my personal project. Countless hours spent given a 20 point tune up by opening the unit layer by layer, board by board. Buffed and detailed clean every crevice every line to free from dusts.
Furthermore, lubrication and deoxit all knobs & controls, including many relevant connections, majority of electronics where necessarily important to ensure proper contact, static free and smooth operation with even some retouching involved in the process.

The antenna bracket was modified and fabricated a fully functional pivot lever and fully operational.
This model is no longer in production and you'll be hard pressed to find another Akai in this state of condition...
so grab it while it lasts!
Like any other vintage, inconspicuous imperfections are almost expected due to age.
