Rare Ceremonial Axe / Dagger-Axe (ge

) – Hafted axe head with bronze blade
inlaid with with turquoise stones and large incised central white mutton fat
nephrite
jade center panel, decorated with
incised fretwork decorations on each side of the panel;
blade also decorated with dragons on top and bottom of blade.  Blade’s na inserted into heavy bronze pole head heavily decorated with dragons and period designs.  Hollow end of bronze pole end for apparent missing pole or finial type decoration (
suggest it was lengthened with additional elements that are now missing),
with opposite end of the bronze pole end attached to a nephrite jade segment.
Traces of wood and soil inside handle. Approx. Size: 7″ H x 6.75″ W x 1.25 D.
